Mike Berte has served as President of AmeriSave since joining the company in 2018. He directs day-to-day operations across all functions and works alongside CEO Patrick Markert to map the company’s strategic direction, ensure that strategic plans support its vision and mission, and meet the company's targets for financial performance.

Under Mike's leadership, the company has grown into one of the largest privately owned, online-only mortgage lenders in the country, with $82B+ in loans originated since 2002.

He has served as an instrumental change agent, reengineering the company's core leadership team, overhauling its recruiting, onboarding, and training practices, and developing world-class systems and processes that, together with its innovative technology platform, have enabled AmeriSave to scale rapidly—and profitably—and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the marketplace.

Mike has fundamentally changed the company's strategic trajectory and set it on a course for accelerated growth. He expanded the organization from 350 to 5,500+ employees in less than 2 years. As chief architect of AmeriSave's revenue-generating efforts, he leveraged these new resources, along with acquisitions and opening of 7 new loan centers, to drive massive top-line revenue growth, increasing loan production from 500 to more than 16,000 loans per month.

Critical components of AmeriSave's success include Mike's transformative leadership, focus on operational excellence, and ability to build exceptionally talented, cohesive, and committed executive teams. His belief in the power of representation has led to the growth of diverse workplaces, inclusive of all perspectives and cultures. Understanding that companies are constrained by the absence of strong leaders, he takes great care in identifying the right people, engaging them in the company's vision, and inspiring them to care deeply about bringing that vision to fruition. His influence extends across the entire enterprise and has produced an action- and results-driven culture.

Building, scaling, and growing companies profitably has been a consistent theme over Mike's career. As President of Loanpal, he quadrupled production over 3 years and achieved record profitability while expanding into key geographies. As Senior Vice President of Residential Sales at SolarCity/Tesla Energy, he helped scale the company from 3,000 to 16,000 employees and grew domestic market share from 10% to over 40%. In his 3-year role as President at loanDepot, he grew consumer direct lending from $2B to more than $10B in annualized loan production, laying the foundation that helped it become the nation's second-largest nonbank consumer lender and a top 5 retail mortgage lender.

Respected for his steadfast dedication, drive, and commitment, as well as his collaborative leadership style and genuine passion for guiding the company to achieve its full potential, Mike has been and continues to be a driving force behind AmeriSave's success. Together with CEO Patrick Markert, who pioneered the digital loan origination process, and AmeriSave’s tight-knit executive team, Mike has dramatically increased the company’s share of the market and positioned it as a frontrunner for new technology development in the mortgage industry.

Mike graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance from Babson College.
